If you are like many companies, you have more than likely seen a drop in the number of people who open and read your email marketing messages. There are a number of reasons for this from IT managers setting higher filters to sift out spam to just people are overwhelmed with growing in boxes.
But there are some things you can do to improve your open rates. Here are the Top 5 things I recommend.
Create an engaging subject line. It is the first thing the customer sees.
Write quality content that will interest the reader and make them look forward to receiving your emails. Don't make the content too sales oriented.
Send from a person and not a company. An email from a company gets marked as advertising immediately.
Clean up and segment your lists. Make sure you are sending your email to someone who is interested in the content.
Avoid spam filters by not using words like “sale,” “free,” or ALL CAPS and exclamation marks in the subject line.
